Hello
people. Am so sorry about last week's absence. I don't have a perfect excuse
but I hope am forgiven (*puppy-dog-face*)
About a
year ago, I lost the most important mortal woman in my life. Cause of death?
Stroke caused by hypertension (in simple English). My Mother was a Qualified
Public Health Nurse at the peak of her career. Anytime am home, I check her
blood pressure but apparently, I haven't been home for a while before the diagnosis was
made. The diagnosis was made two weeks prior to her death. It's shocking but
there's nothing her doctors could do.
Because it
does not have its own specific symptoms, patients most times present with the
complications like stroke, eyes, heart and kidney diseases.
This is one
of the numerous reasons we should be encouraged to go for medical check up once
in every six months. You don't have to be sick or pregnant before seeing a
Health Professional.
I once
heard someone say it is the "black man disease".
It's combination
with Diabetes makes it worse.
Weekly
blood pressure check up won't kill and not too much. And for those already diagnosed, PLEASE,
take your drugs and check in with your Physician, so that complications can be
prevented or reduced.
Hypertension
is not a joke, it's not a myth, it is real and it's no respecter of age.
